I had a great time last night competing in the Elk River Area Toastmasters humorous speech contest. I’ve now qualified to compete in the Prairie Division contest down in Hutchinson in a couple of weeks.
I’m a big believer in personal development, and facing ones fears. Like many people, public speaking was at the top of my list. I’ve been a Toastmaster for nearly five years, and it’s been an AWESOME experience!! Not only is it a great way of learning to conquer the fear of public speaking, but it also teaches leadership skills.
If you’ve ever wondered what Toastmasters is all about, our club ( Elk River Area Toastmasters) will be hosting an open house on October 9th from 12-1, at the Elk River Senior Center (413 Proctor Ave). Free lunch and refreshments will be served, and yes I’ll be giving a speech.
